Plant Dyed Stitching Pack
Colourful scrap packs of linen, cotton and occasionally silk offcuts, carefully scoured, mordanted and then dyed with plants. Pieces vary in size but are minimum 2 inches /5 cm square. Some will have irregular dye patterns or dye marks. Perfect for patchwork and small projects such as needle books, coasters, trivets, pouches, cushion covers etc. Each pack includes a selection of plant dyed thread of different weights (usually sashiko, perle cotton 8wt and/or 12wt). Fabric and thread colours will vary according to the seasons and what I have available so the images do no represent the exact fabrics that you will receive.
Available in three sizes:
Mini: total fabric area approx 25 x 50 cm / 10 x 20 inches with 3 x 5m skeins of thread.
Small: total fabric area approx 50 x 50 cm / 20 x 20 inches with 4 x 5m skeins.
Large: total fabric area approx 50 x 100 cm / 20 x 40 inches with 5 x 5m skeins.
NB the single shade small packs have less colours than the rainbow packs but therefore larger pieces .
Plant Dyed Fabric Care
Plant dyed fabrics may be slightly less colour and light fast than their chemical counterparts. Any transience of these gently luminous colours is part of their beauty and any gradual fading will not detract from the integrity of the piece.
You can prolong the intensity of your plant dyed pieces by keeping them out of direct sunlight. Should they need washing, hand wash with a gentle detergent in cool water and air dry.
